My husband and I were first-time buyers.
One of the main reasons why we bought our house was the fact that it looked picture perfect, so it was staged.
When the time came for us to sell it we decided to enlist a help from a professional designer.
We have known Irena for quite some time and asked her to evaluate and explain to us what is staging and whether it makes sense for us to embark on this adventure.
And an adventure it was.
First and foremost Irena explained to us what the staging does and how it would affect our selling strategy.
Irena explained that staging is showing the selling property in its best potential to the buyer, by showing each room’s best functionality.
Once we were convinced the rest was simple.
The moment we agreed, this house stopped being ours and started being someone else's, where our taste had nothing to do with the way house was decorated, Irena has a talent of seeing the property from the point of view of most potential buyers.
Money makes Money. We had to spend money in order for Irena to make the house appealing to the most buyers.
The changes were rather minor but we had to follow every advice Irena gave us, which did not always ease as we kept forgetting that the house is not ours anymore.
I personally absolutely disliked the color of the walls she chose, but once it was done our house looked picture perfect.
And it was picture perfect for every person that walked into the property.
We received compliments on our house from every showing, we had on average 7 showings a day and we had almost 60 people go through our house during the open house, we had 8 offers and sold our property over asking price.
At the end of the day we spent about $4,500 CAD and our house was sold $20,000 CAD more than similar houses down the street. There
There was some inconvenience as we had to maintain our house spotless clean for a week, considering we had 2-year-old baby was somewhat of a challenge, but $20,000 CAD was definitely worth it.
